Welcome Kaori Nakao, Mari Torres, and Joyce Mendoza to the Infant Aquatics Network. All three completed their training with Judy and Kyla Heumann in April.
Kaori lives with her husband outside of Tokyo and has over 30 years experience working in preschool education. As the owner of a preschool which is located close to the sea, she was keenly aware of the dangers that water posed to her young students. She discovered Infant Aquatics three years ago, but finding the time to commit to the training while running her preschool was a daunting task. We are so glad she was able to make the journey!
Mari is a physical therapist with extensive experience in WATSU (aquatic bodywork). She had the opportunity to travel to Colorado as a nanny for Mariajose Artavia’s son when she trained in 2014. Mariajose opened WaWa in 2015 and Mari worked at WaWa as a WATSU therapist. At Mariajose’s request, Mari decided to be trained as a certified Infant Aquatics instructor to satisfy the growing demand for lessons at WaWa.
Joyce was born in LA and grew up in the Philippines, where she earned a degree in Communications. In 2003 she moved back to California working for the hotel industry. Joyce is the mother of three year old Johan and can't wait to share with Riverside County survival swimming, Infant Aquatics style.
