Hi, my name is Chaya Goldstein owner and instructor of Little Swimmers Infant Aquatics. I am happily married to the love of my life and blessed with an adorable little boy.
I love swimming and any sport involving water. In 2015, as a young teenage girl, I was certified as a Red Cross Lifeguard, trained in First Aid, CPR and how to use an AED. I began Lifeguarding and giving swimming classes.
I loved the water so much that when a client had a fear of water, I felt a responsibility and obligation to undo that fear and show them how much fun and how safe the water can be with proper precautions.
In the summer of 2010, my sister enrolled her 2 kids into the Infant Aquatics program. When she told me her kids would be skilled swimmers in 6 weeks, I didn't believe her. I had to see for myself. So, I came along as she did the 2-hour drive to Connecticut, four days a week for 6 weeks.
When I first entered the pool area, I saw an infant roll over and float on her back independently. I was in shock. For the next five weeks, I came along to watch. I was fascinated at how in only six weeks my two year-old niece learned how to jump into the deep end of the pool, swim and float -- all by herself.
Each lesson looked different and was tailored to fit that individual child's needs. I was amazed at how fast the kids learned this life saving technique. Seeing the kids' transformation was life changing. Watching the transition of my niece and nephew in those 6 weeks made me decide to become an instructor.
When my son started walking and getting older, the risk of him drowning become more real. I signed up with Infant Aquatics to become an instructor.
In October 2022, I packed my bags and moved to Connecticut to complete the Infant Aquatics intense training program. I spent many weeks in the water with Dena Rothman who was encouraging, positive and committed to teach me. She is the best instructor out there. In fact, she was the instructor who taught my sister's children too.
The training, travel and time spent away from home was really hard but I would do it all over again. I cannot thank Dena enough for molding me into the instructor that I am.
Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-4. I believe that it is an honor and an opportunity to help infants and young children learn DROWNING PREVENTION SKILLS as it will save lives.
I love working with children and I am so grateful that I get to help children and parents, while doing something that I love. My goal is to make drowning awareness more prevalent in our area. Considering how many people own pools, drowning prevention is a necessity! Knowing that my work can save lives inspires me to teach to the very best of my ability each and every day that I'm in the water.
Drowning can be prevented. Survival swimming is the best way to prevent it. Give your child the power to stay safe!
