Welcome to my Infant Aquatics business, Lil’ Chicks Swim Float Swim! I am a Christian, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a teacher. I now can add that I am an Infant Aquatics Instructor!
In May 2017, I was talking to my niece about her infant swimming business. She was telling me how she is turning students away because she is so busy and would be instructing 32 children in June. Our discussion peaked my interest. I could be helping families and have a business I could do on the side. My niece had her infant aquatics swim business for four years and I knew how much she enjoyed it. I was also familiar with survival swimming since my great nephew had completed a course 7 years ago. My niece gave me Judy Heumann’s name and I immediately looked up her fabulous website and was hooked. God had a plan because everything worked out that I could go to Colorado and be trained from the best at Swim.Float.Swim! in July/August of 2017. I was able to train with Judy’s daughter, Kyla Heumann RN. I spent over 100 hours in the pool getting hands on training and also learning Child Development, Behavioral Theories, and Anatomy/Physiology. The training was thorough and Kyla’s expertise was evident as we trained children 10 months to 6 years old.
As a person I am always looking for new challenges and ways to enrich my life and the lives of others. My husband, Mark and I have raised two fabulous children They are now married and are beginning their families. I have an 8 year old grandson and a 6 month old grandson. I love being Canan and Elliott’s G.G.! I have always loved interacting with children. I am a former Kindergarten teacher and now a 3rd grade teacher. Seeing children discover and learn fascinates me. I also love the water and swimming. So teaching children survival swimming is very exciting to me. I look forward to teaching children in my area the swim float swim method.
Infant Aquatics provides safe and fun swimming techniques for children and instructors. I know that even the closest supervised children can experience drowning. My own son at the age of two was found floating vertically in 4 foot water by an older boy. We had begun getting ready to leave the pool and my son must have walked down the steps after a toy and just walked out until he went under. He wasn’t under long and I am so thankful to God and the boy who pulled him up. He was lethargic but okay! Just before I came to Colorado for training, a friend’s two year old relative drowned in a pool. These type of accidents seem to occur all the time in Oklahoma.
