Hi, I’m Karen Packer, owner of Swim Like No Otter, LLC. I have lived in Collierville, TN, since 2001. I am married with two sons, a daughter-in-law, and one grandchild. My aquatic journey first began by becoming a certified lifeguard through the YMCA in 2005. In 2006, I became a certified YMCA swim instructor and a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Since then, I’ve been teaching traditional swim lessons to children and adults.
In 2008, I was certified as an infant water survival instructor. I trained under a Master Instructor in an intense six-week program, which included a written curriculum, daily hands-on experience with 10 students, evaluation/critique, and personalized video review.
In my 13 years of teaching swim lessons, I have taught traditional group lessons to children, private lessons to children and adults, family group lessons (parents learning to swim along with their children), and beginning strokes. I have also worked with young children on the spectrum in private lessons. However, my passion, focus, and expertise is in water survival for infants six months old to children six years old.
In 2017, I furthered my training by taking another intensive training course with Infant Aquatics in Longmont, Colorado. I am extremely excited to incorporate new techniques to enhance my swim program, and I’m looking forward to being affiliated with this amazing organization.
Swim Like No Otter teaches aquatic survival lessons starting at six months to six years old. My mission is to reduce the number of pediatric drownings and to develop a love for swimming with a focus on competency. Through individualized one-on-one lessons, in a matter of weeks, my students master the skills that often take years to learn in a traditional swim program.
