About Marcia

I am Marcia Rivers the Owner of Little Rivers Infant Aquatics specializing in aquatic survival lessons for children 6 months -3 years.

A Florida girl born and raised near the water, I was a CPR certified Life Guard in my teens, while raising my only child, Mark, a former Marine. Transitioning to banking after moving to Tennessee in 2006, my love for the water never wavered.

I was introduced to infant survival swimming through a man who had experienced the unthinkable tragedy of losing his 3 year-old son to accidental drowning. This man later became my husband. Our relationship deepened my love and passion for children and their safety around water.

I moved back to Florida in 2017 to teach preschool when it ‘clicked’. I realized that teaching survival swimming and possibly saving precious lives would combine my love of the water with my passion for teaching young children.

After researching several survival swimming programs, I chose Infant Aquatics. I traveled to Colorado to train with Judy Heumann and her daughter Kyla Blum. The experience was intense, consisting of over 200 hours of hands-on in water training with dozens of infants, toddlers and young children over a 6 week period, in addition to academic study covering infant physiology, child development and behavior.

I’m excited to begin this new chapter in my life and look forward to getting to know you and your family and equipping your child with skills that could save his (or her) life.
