Hello! My name is Sophie Wilson, and I am a proud tribal member of the Cherokee Nation. I am happily married to my best friend Vance Wilson, and we have two beautiful children together, Jaylen and Jayden. I was born and raised in Northeastern Oklahoma, and I currently live in Pryor, Oklahoma. Growing up I always had a passion for working with children and I always knew one day I would become a teacher; I just never knew what I wanted to teach.
After buying a house with a pool a few years ago, water safety became a huge concern to my husband and me. We were fortunate to find an Infant Aquatics program at Ready. Set. Float!. After watching my daughter complete the course, I realized I had found my calling.
I traveled to Colorado to complete an intense 6-week course of more than 150+ hours of training. Where not only did I have hands on training experience, but I also learned academic training relating to child development, psychology and physiology.
After learning that drowning was the leading cause of accidental deaths in children ages 1-4, it has empowered me to teach this life saving skill. It is so rewarding watching these children develop the lifesaving skills to save themselves!
