About Corrie

Hello, I am Corrie Reed. I am so excited to bring Infant Aquatics to West Texas!

I have been an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor for 15 years. I have experience as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer for 10 years, and a Starfish Aquatics Institute Instructor Trainer for 4 years, as well as experience as a Certified Pool Spa Operator for 6 years. I am a Boaters Education Instructor Trainer with Texas Parks and Wildlife.

I am married to a wonderful man who is also a college professor, shares a passion for the outdoors, and works as a high school and college sports official. We have a 4-year old son and a 2-year old daughter.

For over 10 years I dreamed of becoming an infant survival swimming instructor, however the timing was never right. Finally, after the birth of our children I decided to MAKE the time right and do what I had been dreaming about.

I completed a six-week Infant Aquatic training in Dallas Texas under the direction of Bev Steinfink. During those 6 weeks I actively participated in over 100 hours of in-water training, and academics relating to child development, psychology and anatomy physiology.

I have degrees in Animal Science and Kinesiology both from Angelo State University. I completed my Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Texas Woman's University. I currently work as a professor of Fitness Sport Sciences at Hardin-Simmons University, specializing in aquatics and sport/recreation management.

While Abilene has multiple options for traditional swim lessons through seasonal programs and through private lessons from certified and non-certified instructors there has been an important piece missing.

Infant Aquatics is the missing link in the aquatic chain of survival and I am beyond thrilled to bring this specialized type of swim training to Abilene and firmly believe in this multi-season program.
