About Cyndi

I have taught and been around children all my life. I have a BS in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master's in Business Administration, both from Texas Tech University. I taught my five children to swim at an early age. All 5 of my children swam competitively in USA Swimming all across the nation. They developed a love of the water and thus began my journey.

I began my swim instructor career as a USA Swim Coach for the Lubbock Homeschool Christian Athletic Association in 2008 and created the USA club swim team for homeschool students in and around Lubbock. I owned, managed, and coached various age groups from the "Learn to Swim" kids to the senior group within my team until 2020 when Covid rules took away our ability to practice. I closed the doors on the swim team and looked for other avenues to teach kids to swim. In 2023, one of my sons helped me reopen the former Seahorse Swim School, which has been in Lubbock for 70 years. Although we have the business name Desert Wave Aquatics, we kept the pool's name, "Seahorse," so Lubbock would still have its iconic pool. We managed the pool as a summer membership pool for 3 years, and now we officially own it.

Although I have taught swimming to ages 2 and up, I wanted to be certified in infant swimming and found Infant Aquatics! In the spring of 2026, I was finally able to train with Kim Emery in Decatur and get certified as an Infant Aquatics Instructor! I am happy to be able to offer my services to Lubbock and the surrounding areas.
